RETIRED FARMER IS DEAD NEAR WALDRON
William C. Roberts, 77, Succumbs to Heart Ailment
Ill only one week, William C. Roberts, age seventy-seven, retired Noble township farmer, died at his home four miles south of Waldron at 10:00 p.m. Sunday [March 13]. His death was due to heart disease.
Funeral services will be held at the Valley church, south of Waldron, at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday [March 15]. The Rev. Homer Manuel of Mooresville, former pastor of the St. Paul M.E. church, and the Rev. L.W. Bean of Logansport, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Van Pelt cemetery in charge of Charles M. Ewing,funeral director.
Mr. Roberts was the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Roberts and was born in Jasper County, Illinois on August 15, 1860. He had lived in Noble township since he was six years old. On September 13, 1882 [should be 1885] he was married to Miss Missouri Gregory and to this union four children were born, three of whom survive. The wife and one child preceded Mr. Roberts in death.
The surviving children are Mrs. Ora W. Cuskaden, Noble township, Vannoy Roberts, Noble township, and Virgil Roberts, cashier of the Waldron State Bank. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Roberts was the last of a family of seven children. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
