ALTUS - Funeral for former Tipton resident, Bobbie Gene Gildon, 68, Altus, will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday at Jackson Funeral Home Chapel, Frederick, with Victor West, bishop, officiating.

Mr. Gildon died Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2009, in Altus.

Burial will be at Frederick Memorial Cemetery, Frederick.

He was born Oct. 10, 1940, in Tipton, to Abe and Janie M. Baker Gildon. He attended Booker T. Washington School, east of Tipton. He worked for L. A. Todd for many years as a farmer. He was a longtime member of Mount Gilead Baptist Church in Tipton before transferring to New Hope Baptist Church in Altus.

Survivors include his wife Mary Copeland, Altus; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert Eugene and Maria Gildon, Oklahoma City; a stepson, Earl Copeland, Altus; three stepdaughters: Rebecca Miller; Glenda Allen and her husband, Henry, and Chakemia Hill, all of Altus; six brothers: Jack Perry, Bennie, Willie T. and Jackie Ray Gildon, all of Frederick; and Royce and Aaron Gildon, both of Anaheim, Calif.; a sister, Lillie M. Malone, Clinton; four grandchildren: Lashanda Gildon, Tyrikk Fisher, Shamar Brown and Gelia Gildon; and a god granddaughter, Taytay Hill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: Johnnie B., Clarence and Edward E. Gildon; and a sister, Peggy Whitehead.
