Ervin Henry Herren, 81. of the Anamosa Care Center in Anamosa formerly of 220 14th St. in Marion, where he had lived for 55 years, died at the Care Center on Wed. July 9, 2003 from complications following a stroke.

Ervin was born on June 10, 1922 in Millersburg, the son of Benhard and Minnie Harms Herren. Ervin worked for Northwestern Bell as a switchman retiring from there after 35 years of service. Ervin was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion. He enjoyed gardening, especially his roses and cactus. He enjoyed fishing, polka music and playing his harmonica and button accordion.

Survivors include his wife, Eloise, who is a resident of Willow Gardens in Marion, a son, Billy and his wife, Linda of Whittier, two daughters, Pamela Sweeney and her husband, Dan of Stone City, Janet Graham and her husband, Roger of Johannesburg, South Africa, a brother, Milton of Lisbon and a sister, Velma Ginger Swanson of Topsfield, Mass. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Services at 11 AM on Tuesday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Marion. Rev. Thomas Hedtke will officiate.
