George was the son of John Ernst Obenland and Clara Jane Durham. He was born in Mark Township, Defiance County, Ohio on September 16, 1909. He lived his entire life in the Sherwood, Ohio area.
On July 2, 1930, George married Ethel Mae Elser in Defiance County, Ohio. The couple went on to have three children: Thelma Mae, Ellen Rose and Janice.
George was a farmer and for 26 years he drove a school bus for the Mark Township School. He retired in 1964.
George was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sherwood.
George died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Defiance, Ohio on February 6, 1983. His death certificate is #016423.
