Chalmers Brown, 82 of 478 W. King street, Franklin, died at 4 p.m. Wednesday at his home.
A teacher for 34 years, he also was a farmer. After retirement, he served two terms as Johnson county treasurer and two terms as Johnson county assessor.
Born Oct 22, 1888, in Providence, he was the son of James W. and Martha Blackwell Brown. He was married Dec 24, 1911 to Martha Vandivier, who preceded him in death in 1969.
Brown was a member of the Providence Masonic lodge for 59 years and of the Methodist church.
Survivors include two sons, Raymond and Dale Brown, both of Franklin, eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five brothers and sisters.
Services will be at 10a.m Saturday at Vandivier-Parsley funeral home with the Rev. James McKinney officiating. Burial will be at Greenlawn cemetery.
Friends may call after 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
