Funeral services for Daniel Dewitt Dendy, 71, of Rt. 1, Woodland, were held at the Pleasant Ridge Church at 2 pm, Wednesday, Dec. 27 with the Rev. Kenneth Moore and Frank Childress officiating. Burial followed in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery.
Dendy, a retired farmer and carpenter and a lifelong resident of Chickasaw County, died on Sunday, Dec. 24 at the Houston Hospital. He was the son of John D and Betty Harrington Dendy. He was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Ella Mae Dendy; three sons, William D of Fredericksburg, Va., Benny D of Fort Worth, Tex. and Jimmy Dale Dendy of Mantee; a daughter, Mrs. Rosa Virginia Knapp of Jacksonville, Ark.; three brothers, John T and James Avery of Woodland and Marvin D Dendy of Fall River, Mass.; a sister, Mrs. Loretta Criddle of Montpelier and eight grandchildren.
Pallbearers were his nephews. Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
