Double Rites Held for Victims

Double funeral services were held at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church in Chickasaw county at 2 pm, Monday, Feb. 10, for Charles Clinton McKinney, 46, and William Lee Dendy, in-laws, who were shot to death about 5:45 Saturday evening at the home of Jess Tallent, Woodland, Route 1.

Tallent is being held here without bond in connection with the shootings. Both men died instantly.

The Rev. J E Rogers and the Rev. Billie Joe Price officiated. Interment was in the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge. Mr. McKinney was Mrs. Lee Dendy's uncle.

William Lee Dendy, 45-year-old welder with the B & W Construction Co., West Point, was married and had a young daughter.

He was the son of John Dendy and Betty Gibson Harrington Dendy. He was born Oct. 4, 1912, and had lived in Chickasaw county all of his life.

Pallbearers at the funeral Monday at 2 at the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church were: William R Gann, Kirkham Dendy, Marion Dendy, Garland Dendy and Lynn Griggs.

He was a member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Jessie Lee Dendy of Woodland, a daughter, Donna Jean Dendy of Woodland; two sisters, Mrs. Lorette Criddle and Mrs. Lorene Dendy, both of Montpelier; four brothers, John Thomas, DeWitt, and Avery, all of Woodland, and Marvin of Fall River, Maso.
