Mrs. Mary E. Smith, aged 85 years, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Chris Sanders, in Sikes, on Sunday, March 15, 1936. Funeral services were held from the residence of her daughter at 3 p.m. Monday, March 16, with the Rev. J. B. Adams officiating. Interment was in the Sikes [sic Zion Hill] Cemetery.
The deceased is survived by two sons, John L. Smith of New Orleans and Joe P. Smith of Tullos, La., and one daughter, Mrs. Chris Sanders of Sikes.
Before her marriage to John Byrd [sic Bird] Smith, she was Miss Mary Warner.
