A sad sequel to a pleasure ride and attendance at the Bethel church Sunday school, eight miles north of Albia, occurred Sunday afternoon. Miss Della Nevins, the bright and popular daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Nevins has died as the result of a runaway , and Miss Mable Yohe is in a critical condition with cuts and bruises, and Aaron John their escort, is heart broken over the events that have caused so much sorrow and pain. The Bethel Sunday school meets at 3 o'clock every Sunday afternoon and it is the habit of the young people in the neighborhood to attend the exercises. On Sunday, Aaron Johnson was the escort of Misses Della Nevins and Mable Yohe. They rode in a single seated buggy and drove a colt. When it came time to go home the three young people got into the buggy when the colt began to plunge and became unmanageable. Mr. Johnson jumped from the buggy and caught the horse by the bits, telling the young ladies to jump. The colt made a fearful lunge, just as the young ladies started to leave the buggy.. The heel on the shoe of Miss Nevins caught between the spokes on a wheel and throwing the young lady to the ground, slighting on her head and breaking her neck causing instant death. Miss Yohe was also thrown to the ground and is in a critical condition as the results of many bruises and cuts she received. Mr. Johnson was unhurt.
