Della was born on the east side of Webster Lake, Indiana in a community known as Oak Grove. Her grandfather, David D. Miller, had moved to this area in 1858; his land included much of the east side. After he died in 1865, his widow, Sophia Wolf Miller, divided up the land between her children before her death in the 1870's. Della's father, Joseph D. Miller (wife Julia A. Black) started a little vacation spot on Webster Lake's east side called Millers Landing. Joe Miller collected annual rent from the cottagers. This continued until his widow Julia died in 1947. The Miller land was finally sold although descendants have continued living on parts of it even today . Della and Court bought one of the lots at Webster Lake and built their own cottage in 1948.
Della had married Court in 1901. They lived in Servia and Elko, Indiana. They moved up to Nashville, MI in 1910 but moved back to Servia in 1911. Court tried farming in 1922 at Ridinger Lake, IN but then finally headed north to Mishawaka to work at Ball Band Manufacturing. In 1930, the Airgoods moved to Berrien Center where Court went back into the grocery business, which he knew so well. Here they both remained until their deaths.
