Walter John Alloway Of 316 23rd Ave., died suddenly at 1 p.m. Wednesday. He and his wife had gone to the Greenwood cemetery to fix graves and while there he suffered a heart attack. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at Altoona hospital, Coroner D. Harold Troxell said.

He was a retired blacksmith from the Altoona Car shops, retiring just this month after 40 years service. He was born Oct. 4, 1893 in Altoona, a son of Joshua and Annie (Mauer) Alloway.

Mr. Alloway leaves his wife, Ada (Henry) Alloway; four children, Walter J. of LeMoyne, Pa. and Roy of Middletown, Pa; two daughters, Mrs. Ruth E. Grogan of Ashville, R.D., and Mrs. Ivy Gallagher of Wilmore, Pa; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Ajalon of Altoona and Ira of Altoona. He was a member of the Fourth Street Church of God and the Men's Bible Class. He was a member of the 28th Div. National Guard of the 110th Inf. Regt. band, and the Altoona city band and P.O.S. of A. and the Altoona car shops band. He played drums and bells.
