Chico Enterprise, Thursday evening, August 31, 1939: "Jacob Yockey, Father of 17, Taken by Death. Jacob Yockey, 80, died this morning at 9 o'clock after an illness of over a year. Yockey was a native of Ohio and moved to Kansas in his early life where he was engaged in farming. He then moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where he established a lumber mill which he operated for over 20 years. He retired about 15 years ago and came to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. N.A. Isham of the Durham district, and his son, Harry Jockey, also of that district. Yockey was the father of 17 children, 11 of which survive him. They are as follows: Mrs. N.A. Isham of Durham, Harry Yockey of Durham, Ernest Yockey of Durham, Everett Yockey of Chico, Mrs. Cora Amator of Durham, Levi Yockey of Wellington, Colo.; Mrs. Elizabeth Foster of Laramie, Wyo.; Irwin Yockey of Centralia, Wash,; Mrs. Mabel Cooley of Kingman, Ariz.; Mrs. Alice Amator of Tolloson, Ariz., and Mrs. Hattie Curtis of Portola. He is also survived by 42 grandchildren, 53 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are awaiting word from relatives and will be announced by the Bicknell funeral home."

Chico Enterprise, Friday evening, September 1, 1939: "Yockey Rites To Be Tomorrow. Funeral service for Jacob Yockey of Durham who died early yesterday morning at the home of his daughter, Mrs. N.A. Isham [sic] in Durham will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the chapel of the H.C. Bicknell funeral parlor. Rev. E.A. Griffith of Durham will officiate. Interment will be in the family plot in the Dayton Cemetery."
