“Robert P. Garriott, 73, 2324 E 500 N., Attica, died at 8 a.m. Monday, December 15, 1997 at his residence. His death was sudden and unexpected.

He was born in Renssalaer July 20, 1924, the son of James Roscoe and Nancy Ethel Hopkins Garriott. He married Rose Mary Leazenbee November 20, 1948 in Covington. She survives.

He had formerly lived in Fowler, Locust Grove, and Judyville before moving to rural Attica where he had lvied for the past 48 years. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School. He ahd farmed for many years in Pine Township, Warren County.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He had attended the Lafayette Assembly of God Church. He was a life member of the V.F.W. Post #3318 of Attica.

Surviving, besides his wife, are: a son, Robert P. “Barney” Garriott, Jr., Pine Village; two brothers, James Garriott, Williamsport; Billy Garriott, Fowler; four sisters, Clarice Bierley, Mary (Estel) McIntosh, LaVernne (Fay) Fix, all of Williamsport; Helen Cripe, Attica; and a grandson, Robert Dirk Garriott, Pine Village. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Maus Funeral Home, Attica, with the Rev. John Adams officiating. Burial with military graveside services were held in Riverside Cemetery, Attica.” – Fountain County Neighbor, Attica, Indiana, December 19, 1997
