He was affectionately called “Uncle Dave” by many in the community. He lived on the McKinney family place in Crosby near the San Jacinto River his whole life. He owned 600 acres of land near his family’s original cotton plantation. Dave built his home on a rise overlooking the nearby river bottoms. The home sat in a large grove of pecan trees. He married Georgia Anna Singleton, but the couple never had kids. However, they were surrounded by their many nieces and nephews.
