Gracie Cason, 97, of Stephenville and sister of C.D. Oxford of Granbury, died Monday, November 17, 2008, in Stephenville.

Services were held Friday, November 21, 2008, at First Baptist Church in Stephenville.

Burial was in Acrea Cemetery near Bluff Dale.

The daughter of O.L. and Abby Oxford was born on August 19, 1911, in Erath County.

She married Hubert Cason on February 8, 1936 in Tolar.

They moved to Stephenville in 1959.

Gracie enjoyed working in the community and serving in her church, The First Baptist. She worked in Stephenville for the Parkville Manufacturing Company for many years as a seamstress. The active Stephenville Garden Club member also served as president of the club. She also worked for the Stephenville Historical Museum as a guide and served on the board.

Other survivors are a son, Ken Cason and wife, Rhonda of Stephenville; daughter, Shirley Butler and husband Keith of Fort Worth; brothers, Oline Oxford and wife Irene, and C.D. Oxford and wife Jean; sisters, Oletha Blanton, Jewel Adolfson and husband Ed, and Dovie Cummins and husband Eph; brother in-law, Lige Nelson; sister-in-law, Dean Cason; five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert Cason in 1993; brothers, E.C. Oxford and Bill Oxford; and sisters, Bertha B. Swaim and Audrey Nelson.
