E.C. Oxford of Tolar, a retired oil field pumper, died Monday, November 5, 2001 in Glen Rose. He was 88.
Mr. Oxford was born July 12, 1913 in Erath County and married Opal Burgess Mills July 29, 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge in Kermit. He was a longtime resident of Tolar.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Oxford in 1994; one sister, Audrey Nelson; and one brother, Leslie 'Bill' Oxford.
He is survived by one stepson, Jack Krodell and wife Carolyn of Fayetteville, Ark.; five sisters, Gracie Cason of Stephenville, Oletha Blanton of Fort Worth, Bertha Bee Swaim of Tolar, Jewel Adolfson and husband Ed of Burleson and Dovie Cummins and husband Eph of Robert Lee; two brothers, Oline Oxford and wife Irene of Mountain Home, Arkansas, and C.D. Oxford and wife Glenna Jean of Granbury; one brother-in-law, Lige Nelson; three step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Wednesday, November 7, 2001 in the Tolar Baptist Church. Burial was in Acrea Cemetery in Erath County. Wiley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
