Calvin V. Newby, 52, died Dec 3, 1978 of a heart attack at his home in Monroe.
He was born July 17, 1926, Monroe to Hugh S. and Harriet LeFevre Newby. He married Ruth Shirley Tripp on April 12, 1948 in Richfield, later solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple.
He farmed and ranched in the Monroe area the last 30 years; is a graduate of Marysvale High School and a veteran of WW II.
Survivors: widow, Monroe; one son, two daughters; Mitchel Newby, Las Vegas, Mrs. Claude Rodney (Lee Ann) Payne, Venice; Miss Gail Peggy Newby, Lindon; three brothers, six sisters; LaVar Newby, Clearfield, Mrs. Glen (Treva) Gates, LaFayette, La John Alfred Newby, Monroe; Mrs Dewey (Teora) Willis, Henrieville, Quin Newby, Orderville; Mrs Howard Patricia I Jones, Cypress, Calif Mrs Robert (Lareno) Mc-Coard, Roy; Mrs Gerry (Ruth) Gates, Santa Fe, NM. and Mrs Ralph (Callie) Clark, Albuquerque, NM.
Funeral services were Tuesday in the Monroe First Ward chapel with Bishop Ted Richard Smith, officiating. Quin Newby offered the family prayer and Deane Yergensen played prelude and postlude music. Mark Cox offered the invocation.
Speakers were Verl Black, Albert Hansen and Bishop Smith. Music included vocal solo by June Smith; organ solo by Deane Yergensen and vocal duet by Ivy Quist and Thelma Foulger. John Newhy offered the benedition.
Burial was in the Monroe City Cemetery by Neal S. Magleby and Sons Mortuary, Richfield, where Dewey Willis offered the dedicatory prayer. Pallbearers were Mitchel Newby, Allen McCoard, LaVar Newby, Claude R. Payne, John Newby and Quin Newby.
