MRS. IDA GETMAN TAKEN BY DEATH Former Teacher Died This Morning After Long Illness With Complications - Mrs. Ida Dockstader Getman 66, widow of Roscoe W. Getman, died this morning at 1:55 at her home on Matthew Street, after a lingering illness with a complication of diseases. Mrs. Getman was born in the Town of Ephratah. June 11, 1871, the daughter of Peter Dockstader and Mary Elizabeth Getman Dockstader. She was married to Mr. Getman, June 30, 1897, after which the couple removed to the Town of Columbia, Herkimer County, where they resided until the death of her husband in 1914. She then removed to Johnstown with her daughter, Miss Mildred D. Getman, and had since made her home here. Prior to her marriage, she taught school on Long Island and in this vicinity and was considered one of the best teachers of her day. Mrs. Getman was a graduate of Fairfield Seminary, class of 1890, and Oneonta Normal School, class of 1895. She was a member of the Reformed church and a former member of the Ladies' Aid Society of the church. She was a home loving woman who had endeared herself to a host of friends. Although she had been a sufferer for several years, she continued to remain cheerful to the end. The survivors are one daughter, Miss Mildred D. Getman, Johnstown: three sisters, Mrs. Sarah Wemple and Mrs. Luella Glener, both of Johnstown, and Mrs. Ervin Snell, Town of Palatine. Montgomery County; one brother. Clark Dockstader, four nephews and several cousins. The funeral will be held at the family home Saturday afternoon at 3:80. The Rev. Edward L Swartout, Jr., of the Reformed church will officiate. Burial will be made In the family plot In the Ephratah Rural cemetery.
