PROMINENT MASSENA PHYSICIAN IS DEAD

Massena, May 28 -- Dr. F. A. Anderson, one of Massena's oldest and most respected physicians, died at his home on Phillips Street Wednesday afternoon of last week, following a long period of failing health, of heart trouble. The funeral was held from his late home Saturday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. Binney S. Black, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiating and the remains were buried in Pine Grove cemetery.

Dr. Anderson was born in St. Ligouri, P. Q. Sept.10, 1845. His parents moved to West Chazy, Clinton County, N. Y., about 1851 and here their son commenced his education, attending the district school and later going to Amenta, Dutchess County, where he was a student at Dutchess County Seminary. In 1875 he entered the Albany Medical College, taking a year of study there and later entering Bellevue, New York city, where he was graduated in 1877. He came to Massena shortly after and entered into partnership with Dr. Orrel McFadden, which continued for some years, Dr. Anderson later opening an office for himself.

In November 1878, he married Miss Hattie A. Hyde, only daughter of the late Judson L. Hyde of this village. Two daughters were born to them, both of whom died when young and the shock of their death undermined the health of Mrs. Anderson so that ever since she has been in delicate health and her husband found his chief joy in ministering to her needs. Dr. Anderson was for a number of years the health officer of this village and at the time of his death was a member of the board of trade.

He is survived by his widow, for whom much sympathy Is expressed; one brother, Albert S. Anderson, of Chazy, who came here on Tuesday of last week and remained until after the funeral, and two sisters, Mrs. George Gilmore and Mrs. Julia Mason of Plattsburgh. Friends from out of town who attended the funeral were Mrs. A. A. Webb of Syracuse, Mrs. Robert F. Barrett of Peekskill and Mr. and Mrs. George H. Hyde and Mrs. Carrie Hyde of Watertown, Mrs.. George Gilmore of Plattsburgh, George F. Anderson and daughter Elsie of Three Rivers, P. Q . and Robert Anderson of West Chazy.
