STRANGE FATAL MALADY PUZZLE TO PHYSICIANS

"Physicians are puzzled by a strange case of poisoning which on Sunday caused the death of John Milford Brakeall, three-year old son of Mrs. and Mrs. John A. Brakeall of First street, Dravosburg. Louise his six year old sister, who was stricken with the same malady, is reported improved today, after a terrific struggle with the same affliction. Her recovery is anticipated. On the certificate issued by David M. Kier, deputy coroner, who investigated the death yesterday, the cause of death is given as foremia, a poisonous condition of unknown origin. Several physicians who had been called into consultation on the case are puzzled as the cause of the illness. John's condition was first noticed on Friday evening, but his condition did not appear to be serious. He lay in bed on Saturday, but that evening became very sick, and from 9 o'clock until his death at 5:40 o'clock Sunday morning, he was unconscious. Funeral services were held last evening at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Brakeall of Euclid avenue and First street, Dravosburg, with interment this morning in Fairview cemetery. Louise first took sick on Sunday morning, and she was in a serious condition from the first, being unconscious practically all day Sunday. Three physicians were in attendance during that day, and very little hope was held out for her recovery. The symptoms were very similar to those shown by her brother. She took a number of spasms. She recovered consciousness yesterday and this morning was reported so much improved that her recovery is anticipated."

The funeral services will be held this evening at 8 o'clock at the home of his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. M.M. After the death of Johnny, a neighbor lady came forward and admitted to seeing the two children drinking from bottles that had been thrown away. Had she stepped forward earlier, John may have survived.
His mother never got over her loss of this son.
