John Reynolds Bowdish, Sr. was the son of Asa and Elizabeth (Mulkins) Bowdish, Sr. Lydia (Johnson) Bowdish was his 1st wife. They were married October 2, 18O1. Lydia died September 1, 1818. Betsey Kenyon Bowdish Palmer was his 2nd wife. Betsey died July 30, 1877.∼Son of Asa Bowdish and Elizabeth Mulkins Bowdish. He was married twice, first to Lydia Johnson (1780-1818) with whom he had six children: William Sweet (1802-1848), John Reynolds Jr (1804-1875), Susanna (1806-), Lydia Marie (1810-), Leonard (1812-) and Willesley (1814-1836).

John Reynolds Sr remarried to Betsey Palmer (1801-1877). The couple had eight children together: Harriet (1825-1900), Alma Miranda (1825-1853), Emeline O (1827-1904), Samuel L (1831-1916), Hervey K (1834-1876), Hannah E (1835-1915), Emory (1838-1922) and W.L. (1863-).

John Reynolds Bowdish Sr died in 1847. Betsey Palmer later remarried to Harvey Kenyon.

While the headstones for John Reynolds Sr and family are located in the cemetery across the street from the Mt Vision Methodist Church, the actual graves are located at the Gardnertown Cemetery near Falls Bridge at the junction of State Rt 11 and 15 about 1.5 miles outside of town (as opposed to the main Mt Vision Cemetery located at the corner of State Rtes 11 & 11B).
