RICHARD HOCKING
Richard Henry (Dick) Hocking Sr., 77, 1342 North Hayes, died in an Idaho Falls hospital Sunday.
He was born July 11, 1884 in Cornwall, England, to Richard Henry and Kathryn [Catherine] Goldsworthy Hocking. When he was two years old the family came to Park City, Utah from England. They moved to Gray's Lake when he was seven and he lived there for many years.
He married Hattie Adelia Beauregard Nov. 6, 1905 in Gray's Lake. They made their home there until 1918 when they moved to Idaho Falls and in 1920 tp Rigby. Later they moved to Blackfoot and in 1923 came to Pocatello.
Mr. Hocking had worked on construction most of his life and for several years had worked as janitor of the Telephone Building before his retirement. The past three years he had made his home with a son Joseph, in Idaho Falls.
He was a member and one of the persons intrunental in organizing the Golden Age Club here. He was also a member of the 60-Plus and Senior Citizens Club and a member of the Idaho Falls Golden Age Group. Mr. Hocking enjoyed playing the violin.
His wife died in April 1956. Surviving are five sons; Ivan L. and Joseph W. of Idaho Falls; Evan Elliot of Pocatello; Richard Henry, Tempe Arizona; Marlin Edmond, Ogden; four daughters; Mr. Luther Biggs and Mrs. Ada Yowell, Pocatello; Mrs. Leonard Nielsen, Shelley; Mrs. Jack Dudley, Seattle Wash., 33 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and a brother Ernest Hocking, Mackay.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Mannign Funeral Chapel, with Rev. Vigil Halbig, Central Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Mountainview Cemetery under the direction of Manning Funeral Chapel.
