She was born March 13, 1921, in Rigby, Idaho, to Richard Henry Hocking and Hattie AdeliaBeauregard. She grew up in Pocatello and graduated from Pocatello High School in 1939.
On Sept. 2, 1939, she married Leonard Viig Nielsen in Pocatello. They moved to Shelley, where they farmed. She worked for Alva Harris Law Office and Snake River Irrigation.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a musician and played the piano and the bass fiddle for the stake orchestra.
Survivors include two sons, sister,17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Leonard Richard Nielsen; 10 siblings, Ivan, Hallie, Margaret, Joseph, Basil, Elliot, Richard, Martell, Ada and Marlin; and two grandchildren.
