ADAM WILCOX was the sixth child of Samuel Allen Wilcox and Martha Parker Wilcox. He married Eunice Jane Dalrymple on 2 February 1880. Second, he was married to Octavia Achsa Cheney on 9 June 1910.

In 18[8]6 Martha Parker Wilcox took her namesake, Martha, to visit Adam and Eunice in St. Charles, Bear Lake, Idaho. They were in the mercantile business. Adam still operated his farm, leaving much of the store management to his wife. Young Martha said: "To my childish eyes their home seemed the most beautiful place in the world with its lovely "state," carpets, fine lace curtains, and grand furniture. Never had I seen anything like it. Even the upstairs bedrooms had lovely flowered carpets. I especially remember how soft they were to kneel on when I said my prayers at night.

Here all their children were born. The first, a little girl named Martha Ethel, died when only three days old. The second child, Eunice Sophronia, was a beautiful little girl, only two years old at the time of the visit mentioned above. Her dark hair was always in curls and she was kept beautifully dressed and perfectly tidy at all times. I didnt realize at that time what a remarkable feat that was.

The other children were, Eunice Sophronia, Mary Edna, Eldan Adam, Ida Mabel, and Milton LeGrand. In the year 1886, Adam and Eunice and family moved to Logan. Disagreement and discord arose between Adam and Eunice after all their wonderful life together, finally ending in separation and divorce.

In the latter part of his life Adam married Octavia Cheney of Laketown, Bear Lake, Idaho, who was a very worthy woman but never very strong physically. She was unable to care for her husband during his last illness. Phebe invited him to her home.

Adam died January 17, 1917, at Phebe's, in Wardboro, Bear Lake, Idaho

Following are excerpts from a letter written by Adam, while on his mision , to his mother and his sister, Melinda, from Moscow, Lamar Co., Alabama:

There is considerable talk here about our Elders being mobbed. It pleases some very much while others are disgusted and do not believe in mobs. It has made us a great many more friends. A good many have told us they would stand by us and we have been assured by our friends that the judge of the county is our friend and he says we shall have our rights.

It is plain to be seen that the seeds of the Gospel that we have sown are taking root and things look more encouraging than they did. We expect soon to baptize some as they have made application.

We stayed a few nights ago with a young Campbellite preacher. We talked till midnight. He thought he had us a good many times but he would soon find out he was badly mistaken. He finally wanted a sign and said if we could show a sign the whole world would follow us, but I said, "Did all the world follow the Son of God, or did they crucify him and put to death his disciples? He said he agreed so far but if he could see a sign he would be convinced. We told him signs were to follow the believers and the Devil was the first man to ask for a sign. We told him the world would be deceived by signs, that the devil would have power to cell down fire from heaven., etc. We cited to him the Law and the Testimony and the more sure word of Prophecy.

He offered us his church to hold meetings and of course we accepted and told him we would when we had time. I have never been afraid, but defend the cause of Zion when I have a chance.

I am pleased to hear you have so much grain. I tell you the famine has already commenced. There are sorrowful times ahead. You can see what is going on by the Deseret News.

2. Eunice Sophronia, born 24 April 1884, married George Whitely 17 Jan 1915, lovingly called "Frone," She had a lot of 1iterary ability. She has written many beautiful poems.
3. Mary Edna born 24 April 1887, married William Powell 12 Sept 1907. Edna also has poetic ability.
4. Eldon Adam born 12 Feb 1889, married Margaret Judd, died 16 May 1917. Eldon was well on his way to becoming a national tennis champion when he was stricken by death. He had one son, Judd Eldon Wilcox
5. Ida Mabel Wilcox born 23 October 1894.
6. Milton LeGrand Wilcox born 9 January 1898.
