Convoy - Lester Thompson, 89, Convoy, died at 12:30 pm Feb 22 in Vancrest Nursing Home. He was born April 29, 1901 in Benton Township, Paulding County, a son of Alonzo and Delilah (Yoakam) Thompson. In 1923, he married the former Mary Black and she preceded him in death in 1946. In 1952 he married Verdella Egly and she died in 1984. Survivors include a son, Marlin of Ansonia; four daughters, Mrs Donald (Mildred) DeLong and Mrs Maurice (Virginia) Dawson, both of Van Wert, Mrs Paul (Jean) Feasby of Antwerp, and Eunice Cook of Phoenix AZ; two sisters, Farry Cress of Convoy and Wilma Black of Shane Hill Nursing Home, Rockford; 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and a great-greatgrandchild. He was preceded in death by a son William, a daughter Marjorie Taylor, a grandson Ned Thompson, two brothers and a sister. Mr Thompson had retired from Federal Mogul Corporation. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Thursday at Brickner Funeral Home, with the Rev Lynn Mefford to officiate. Calling hours are from 2-9 pm today and from 9 am until time of services Thursday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Convoy United Brethren in Christ Church or to the Convoy EMS.
