A wise and gentle man passed away, Wednesday, October 2, 2002, at the age of 90, with his sweetheart and family by his side.

Dad was born the day the Titanic Sank, April 14, 1912. He was the fifth child of Bry and Jennie Turner Burningham.

The family lived in Farmington, then moved to Bountiful where he worked on the family farm selling their produce in Utah and Idaho with his dad and brothers.

Dad married his sweetheart, Elinor Smith, on July 21, 1933. Their marriage was sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple June 10, 1935. They enjoyed 69 wonderful years together.

Dad was a great inspiration to his three daughters and a son, LaRae (Bert) Hibberd, Karen Harwood, Jennie (Owen) Harwood and Stephen (Lyn) Burningham. Dad always had beautiful horses and belonged to the Twin Star Riding Club. He looked forward to riding his beautiful horse, leading the parade down Bountiful Main Street every 24th of July.

Dad also took great pride in his backyard garden and enjoyed sharing vegetables with his family and friends. After 30 years of devotion to the Bountiful City Police Department he retired in 1974.

Dad and Mom enjoyed many years with their square dancing club, traveling the country with their Air Stream Trailer Club, then at their little house in St. George. Dad was a loving companion, father, grandfather, brother and friend.

He is survived by his wife; children; 13 grandchildren; 31 great-grandchildren; sisters, Dora and Jetta; sister-in-law, LaVerl Smith; special brother-in-law, Frank Warren. Preceded in death by sisters, Bernice, LaRene, Alice and Thelda; brothers, Russ, Cliff and Bert.
