"In 1846 the deceased (George Hennigh, Sr.) was married to Miss Evaline B. Smitten, who survives him, the result of the union being eight children, six of whom, five sons and one daughter, also survive their father, as follows: Luther, of Burnside; John, of South Dakota; Dr. George B. Hennigh, of Troutville; Charles G.; William; and Mrs. John Jenks, of this place." from George's obituary

Eveline was a daughter of Archibald Smitten and Hannah Thompson. After her father's 1856 death, her mother married a Mr. Denver abt 1862.
