ANDREW PINKSTAFF "ANDY" ANDERSON, son of Andrew Jackson "Dinks" Anderson and Ellen Elizabeth Ball, was born 4 December 1888 in Fannin County, TX. His father died when he was 7 years old, and he, along with his mother, brother, and sister, moved around quite a bit. The family lived principally in Indian Territory and Texas.

Andrew enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August of 1913. He contracted tuberculosis and was sent to Fort Lyon Naval Hospital in Bent County, Colorado in September of 1916, and received a medical discharge. After a trip to see family, he was returning on the train to Fort Lyon Hospital in February of 1918. He became unconscious just as the trip was almost completed near Las Animas, Bent County, Colorado, and died there. His brother, James Porter, made the trip to Colorado and buried him in the Las Animas Cemetery. According to his brother, the grave was unmarked. It stated that his residence at Las Animas was 3 days and that he was attended by the physician from February 10 to February 13, when he died about 11:30 p.m.

Andrew Pinkstaff Anderson was never married. He was an oiler by trade.
