Walter and his first wife, Eugenia Oliver, were married at Goodland, Choctaw County, Indian Territory on May 25. 1896. They were the parents of 4 children: Joe Dee Anderson, born and died in 1898; B. M. Anderson, born and died 1900, Nellie Oliver "Eva" Anderson, 1902-1998; and William Hubbard Anderson, 1904-1948. Eugenia died in March of 1905 and is buried at Nelson, Oklahoma, with her two infant sons.
After Eugenia's death, Walter visited relatives in Smith County TN, where he married Fay T. "Toy" Maggart on September 27, 1905. They returned to Walter's home near Soper in Indian Territory, where their oldest five children were born: Orville E. Anderson, born and died 1907; Otis Bills Anderson, born and died 1909; Walter Lee Anderson, 1911-2002; Lester Harold Anderson, born between 1912-1913 and died in 1925; Sallie Ann Anderson, born and died in 1915. Walter moved his family again near Hamden. Toy died there when the sixth child, Eugene Edward Anderson, was born August 24, 1919. She was buried in the Choctaw Cemetery between Hamden and Messer in an unmarked grave.
After Toy's death, Walter Anderson (widowed) and his children were ennumerated in the 1920 census of Antlers, Pushmataha County OK, living next door to Lester Kendrick (widowed) and her children. He and Lester were apparently married in July of 1922, location unknown, and moved to Ft. Cobb, Caddo County OK in 1924.
Lester died January 21,1971 at the Antlers Nursing Home and Walter moved to Oklahoma City with his son, Gene. He lived in a nursing home in Oklahoma City and then moved to one in Denison, Texas, to be near his son, Lee. Walter died there on May 10, 1973 and was returned to Antlers City Cemetery, Antlers OK, to be buried beside Lester.
