Oscar, or "Sox" as he was known by family and friends, enlisted in the military during WWII, after traveling extensively out west looking for work during the depression. He received multiple commendations during the course of his service for the excellent performance of his duties. Oscar enlisted on April 26, 1942 and received an honorable discharge from the Air Force on May 31, 1964.
During his time in the military Sox was stationed in many places and sent souvenirs home to his mother and sisters from each place he traveled to. Over the years the family accumulated keepsakes from Alaska, South Dakota, England, Holland, Belgium, Japan, and many other places.
After retiring from the service, Oscar returned to Japan, where he married his second wife. After their marriage the couple returned to the States, making their home in Brainerd, MN, where they were blessed by the birth of their son.
Oscar passed away in the hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Funeral services were held in Brainerd.
Oscar was prceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Harry, William, and Allison.
Oscar was survived by his wife and son; and several nieces and nephews.
