Sarah Jane (Wine) Cox was born in Barren County, Kentucky in December of 1834. Her mother, Caroline Thomas (Mustain) died either in childbirth or shortly afterward. Sarah's father, Leroy Wine, married again and moved to Missouri. She was married to Moses Allen Cox on September 1, 1853. Sources claim he died on September 23, 1869, however no proof of this date has been found. The obituary for Sarah Jane Cox states that her husband died 40 years before her. He is not buried in Fairview Cemetery with his wife, as her obituary said she asked to be buried next to her father. Did Moses die and is he buried in another state? She was the mother of five sons, William, Morgan, Sidney, Lewis and Spruce, and one daughter Mary. Sarah Jane was a Godly woman who loved reading her Bible. She lived life as a widow on her farm south of Cox, Missouri for 40 years after her husband passed from this life before she joined him in heaven.
