D.B. Millard was born Sept. 1, 1830 in Fulton county, Ill., died in Cherokee, Kansas, Nov. 28, 1909, aged 79 years, 2 months and 27 days.
He was married to Catherine Smith Dec. 31, 1854, in the county in which he was born. Five children were born to this union, one having died in infancy. Four children survive him, namely Perry S., Girard; Elijah S., Pittsburg; Sarah A., Pittsburg; and George A., Cherokee. He moved with his family to Miami county, Kansas in 1867 and lived there 2 years, coming to Crawford county in 1869, settling on a farm near Cherokee. His wife, Catherine Millard, departed this life Dec. 2, 1894.
Brother Millard was a member of the Christian church since his early days in Kansas. He maintained a Christian character, and had a host of friends who join with his relatives in mourning his departure.
An appropriate funeral service was held at the home of his son, Geo. A., on Monday, Nov. 29, which was largely attended, being conducted by Rev. C.W. Yard, pastor of the Christian church.
