Death of Mrs. Millard
On last Friday, Grandma Millard, wife of D.B. Millard, passed away at the home of her son, Perry. She was born near Columbus, Ohio, October the 8th, 1828, making her age a little over 76 years. her parents moved to Fulton, Illinois, when she was eleven years old, where she grew to womanhood and Dec. 31, 1854 she was married to her now bereaved husband. They came to Cherokee in 1866 and lived in town, finally moved to the farm near the Base Line, where they lived until recently they built a nice home in town and moved back.
Funeral services were held at the home of her son on Sunday by G.W. Brown, and her remains were laid to rest in the city cemetery.
Besides her husband she leaves four children all with families of their own: viz: P.S. Millard, O.S. Millard, G.A. Millard and Mrs. W.H. Biles, all living near here.
Mrs. Millard was a good Christian woman, a member of the Christian church, and a good wife and mother. In all the twenty years or more we have known her, not an unkind word have we heard spoken against her. The aged husband has the sympathy of hundreds of friends.
