I've been collecting family history for the last 35 years. My husband and I have deep Kansas roots. His are in Ottawa, Lincoln, and Cloud counties; mine are in Wabaunsee, Pottawatomie, and Shawnee counties. Our people have been in this state since 1857, and I find more little items about their everyday lives as I read the old weekly newspapers on microfilm at the Kansas Historical Society's archives in Topeka. |
I post family trees at Rootsweb and Ancestry, and post obits on the surname pages at Rootsweb if I don't know the cemetery where the burial is.
I'm currently working on four projects:
1. Working with others to photograph Mount Hope Cemetery, one of the large city cemeteries in Topeka, Kansas.
2. Reading my way through the Cloud County, Kansas, Glasco Sun, sharing obits as I find them. Most connect to one of my husband's family lines.
3. Reading old issues of the Alma Signal/Enterprise, Wabaunsee County
4. Reading old issues of the Cherokee Sentinel, Crawford County, adding obits to the Cherokee cemetery.
NOTE: If you would like me to look for additional information on burials in Mount Hope Cemetery, Topeka, or Cherokee Cemetery in Crawford County, please let me know via the edit tab on the page.

|Delaine Shirley-Noyer||RE: Mary Axtell Stark, 91844861|
Perfect, thank you. I finally figured out who she is. My maternal great grandparents had photos of the Axtells-their relatives, that I've already posted. The Stark name was throwing me off, Ha. I think it's her parents that are buried about 20 miles from me here in California. That was a big surprise to learn i had family buried so near. I wonder if my great grandparents knew that? Thanks for your hard work on this. I'll read the obits now.
Dain Bouton is my Wifes uncle and i am trying to complete the family tree for her i have a great deal of information to add to #778911314 if you could transfer the memorial to me i would greatly appreciate it and thanks for the great work you are doing on find a grave keep it up
