MASSENA--Mrs J.H. Yarger (Clara Denham), long time resident of Massena, died Saturday night about 10 o'clock following several weeks of confinement to her bed since Feb 22, when she fell and fractured her hip. Death came unexpectedly. She was apparently in her usual good health having spent the evening visiting with members of her family. Her daughter, Mrs Clara Branden, had prepared her for bed when she complained of feeling ill. A doctor and members of the family were summoned, but she died about 15 minutes later.

Clara Lois Denham, daughter of Cornelius and Harriet Smith Denham, was born in Princeton, Illinois Nov 29, 1864. She came with her parents to Iowa, while a young girl and attended school in the Eastman school west of town. She was married to John Yarger, on Feb 22, 1881. To this union were born nine children, all of whom survive. They are Ida, Orland, Mrs Clara Brandon, N.H. Yarger, Rex and Harley Yarger of Massena, John Yarger and Hazel Phipps, Des Moines, and Cecil Yarger of St Louis, Mo. There are 22 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Mr Yarger died June 10, 1917. Also surviving are two brothers, William Denham of Cumberland, and Phil Denham of California, and a sister, Mrs Lucy Newton, Cody, Wyoming. Mrs Yarger was a member of the Methodist Church where funeral services will be held Tuesday. Rev. I.G. Wolfe will be in charge.
