Former Hammond Resident Succumbs After Illness of 3 Months
Henry Reissig, 83, former prominent Hammond resident, died yesterday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Gustav Lau, 7842 Paulina street, Chicago.
Death occurred at 5:05 p.m. and ended an illness of three months. His passing was attributed to complications.
The father of Henry O. Reissig, head of the Reissig and Phair insurance agency in Hammond, the deceased was general foreman of the Reid-Murdock plant in Hammond before it suspended local operations in 1920.
Reissig was born and reared in Hobart, one of the pioneer residents of that section of the county. He came to Hammond in 1900 and retired in 1920. He resided with his daughter for the last four years.
Surviving in addition to the son are two daughters, Mrs. Mathilda Mummery of South Gary and Mrs. Charles Mayer of Hammond.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran church in Hammond. Rev. Walter F. Lichtsinn will officiate. Burial will be in Hobart. The body will lie at the funeral chapel in 5713 Hohman avenue, Hammond, after 6 p.m. today.
