Maxine Stephens Gilliland, 73, passed away Oct. 10, 2006, in Chino Valley. She was born May 16, 1933, in Pinetop.

Maxine is survived by husband, Ken of Chino Valley; son, Rick (Gayle) of Prescott; daughters, Connie (Perry) Hickman of Chino Valley, Raeleen Richardson of North Carolina and Judy (Don) Lough of Phoenix; 11 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Norma O'Dell of Duncan and Nadine (Thomas) Elms of Duncan; and brother, Bill (Wanda) Stephens of Central.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilmer and Hazel Stephens; brother, Wimp; and sister, Sue Romney.

She was a homemaker and a hairdresser for 12 years in Prescott. She also worked in the family business in the Prescott Village Cleaners for a number of years.

When they retired, she and her husband raced horses in the southwestern states.

They enjoyed spending time in Duncan and Prescott, where they divided their time.

Services were held Oct. 14 in Duncan at the Stake Center, and burial followed at the Duncan Cemetery.

Maxine's loving demeanor will be missed desperately by all of her family and friends.
