Martha's tombstone is the curvy crumbling one to the north of the flat one with letters "M. M." Depicted here it is the second stone. It is laying flat. These are some of the earliest burials in Ft. Palmer Cemetery. There is an effort to place a new marker for William Matthews and Martha McConnell Matthews. Recent research says she was living in Stranorlar Parish, County Donegal at time of their marriage and he was from Urney Parish, County Tyrone, Ireland. 14 miles apart.

This is believed to be the base stone for Martha McConnell Matthews. A project is underway to place a new identifying marker or her grave. Her husband's stone is next to it and it has no markings left. Do not confuse these with another base marked W. M. This is the base to leaning stone for William Matthews II.

Gravesite Details

It is crumbling as you can see from the photo. It is in a straight line with her son William and his wife. Some of her grandchildren are in the immediate area
