Bryan Clark Screws, 89, died peacefully at home Tuesday, August 26, 2008. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28, 2008, in the chapel of Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home in Ridgeland with burial in Parkway Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. today and 9:00 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Bryan was born on October 20, 1918, in Yazoo County, the son of the late Raif Bell Clark Screws and Thaddie Kirk Screws. He grew up loving trains, wanting to follow in his father's footsteps and work for the railroad, which is exactly what he did. Bryan retired from the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad with 41½ years of continuous service in capacities ranging from Agent Operator to Assistant Train Master and finally to Regional Manager Callers, with many years as Chief Dispatcher at McComb, Vicksburg and Chicago, IL. When he wasn't running the real trains, he was at home running the model trains, first the one that he bought for his son one Christmas and then years later, the one that his youngest daughter brought home to put around the Christmas tree. He also enjoyed playing golf and watching Major League baseball and NFL football. He and his wife Dorothy were active members of Broadmoor Baptist Church of Madison, MS and Calvary Baptist Church of Jackson, MS. While living in the suburbs of Chicago, Bryan and Dorothy helped start a new Baptist Church in Country Club Hills, IL.

Bryan is survived by his wife of 66 years Dorothy Louise Lupo Screws; children Patsy S. Guynes of Crystal Springs; David L. Clark of Kennesaw, GA; and Beverly J. Clark of Jackson; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother Buford J. Screws of Ridgeland; and sister Magdalene Blansett of Arcadia, LA. Bryan was predeceased by his parents and by his siblings Carroll S. Screws and John Thomas Screws.

Memorials may be made to Broadmoor Baptist Church, Madison, MS.
