Buford Johnson Screws, 96, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2013 at Highland Home in Ridgeland. Visitation will be Friday, January 3, 2014 at Stricklin King Funeral Home in Yazoo City from 12-2. Graveside services will be held immediately following at Concord Cemetery in Yazoo County.
He is survived by his daughters, Carolyn Collins of Canton; Brenda Bramlett of Cypress, TX; and Barbara Oldham of Ridgeland. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren, with another on the way.
Mr. Screws was born in Yazoo County. He lived many places in his career. He retired from Illinois Central Railroad after 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and fought in World War II in the Pacific.
