She was the daughter of Nicholas (about 1831-1903) and Ann Doran (about 1825-1863) McGinnis. Sarah and her parents and sister, Alice, came to Indiana between August of 1855 (Sarah's birth in New York) and December 1858 (sister, Bridget's birth in Indianapolis) from New York.

2. Bridget M 'Biddie' McGinnis Bowers (1858-1945)

After her mother died in June of 1863 she and her sisters Alice and Bridget were sent to a Catholic orphanage in Vincennes, Indiana until their father remarried in July of 1865.

1. Thomas Patrick McGinnis (1868-1935);
2. Clara McGinnis Combs (1871-1932)
3. Frank Nicholas McGinnis (1873-1929)
4. George Barlett/Bartlett McGinnis (1876-1899)

Sarah married November 27,1879 in Indianapolis, Marion Co, Indiana; her husband: John Joseph(?) Maloney. Sarah and John appear on the 1880 census in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Their first three children (Daniel, George and Alice) were born there. The rest were born in Indianapolis.

2. George Francis Maloney (1883-1960)
3. Alice Margaret 'Maggie' Maloney (1885-1888)
4. James William Maloney (1887-1977)
5. Anna Josephine Maloney (1889-1910) - never married
6. Helen Marie 'Nellie Maloney Foose (1891-1967)
7. Sarah Veronica 'Sadie' Maloney McHaines (div) Maloney (1894-1979)
8. John Francis Maloney (1894-1960) - never married
9. Mary Josephine Maloney Costello (1896-1980)
10. William Anthony 'Mickey' Maloney (1899-1965)

Sarah was well known in the parochial work of St John's Catholic Church, in which whe took great interest. Sarah died of cancer of the stomach.

She died at age 47 years 4 months 13 days.
