Her marker indicates a birthyear of 1900 but she was born in 1897. Her father is Doc James Ridings and her mother is Anna Ross Ridings, who died in the early 1900's. Mahala (or Hallie, as she was often called) married Samuel Loman Boyd. He was killed in a mining accident in Harlan County, KY in 1932. She then married Homer Byrd and they moved to Tennessee. Sometime in the 1940's, they moved north to Indiana where they spent the rest of their lives. They both now rest in Mount Pleasant cemetery near Kendallville, Indiana.
