Dovie May Belle Short Gardner was my Great Grandmother. Her son, John Quincy Gardner was my Grandfather. Dovie was married to Robert Franklin Gardner and had many wonderful and beautiful children. Dovie and Robert died within hours of each other after being hit by a car while they were on their way to visit Dovie's sister, Catherine. It was a very sad year for the Gardner and Short families since Robert and Dovie had lost their daughter, Gertrude only a few months before--on March 8, 1937. I understand that Robert and Dovie were beautiful people and were well loved by all their family members.

Cause of Death: Multiple internal injuries and multiple fractures of both legs after being hit by a car.
