Nellie Virginia Gardner was born in Cherryville, North Carolina on February 18, 1917. She was the daughter of Robert Franklin Gardner and Dovie Mae Short Gardner. Nellie married Frank Sarlo and spent the remainder of her life in Brooklyn, New York sharing a two family house with her sister, Louila Gardner. Nellie was a sweet person, as were all the Gardner family members. She left this earth on July 21, 1978 and is sorely missed by the remaining members of her family.
