John M. Baugher, 90, died August 13, 2008, at the Brethren Home Community. He was the husband of Elsie Viola (Brown) Baugher.

Mr. Baugher was born July 8, 1918, in New Oxford, the son of the late Warren and Kathryn (Myers) Baugher. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, New Oxford, and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He enjoyed pitching horseshoes and was inducted into the Horseshoe Pitchers Hall of Fame in York. He was also a member of Joiners of America Local 0191 and was an avid fisherman and hunter.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by four daughters, Lois V. Rohrbaugh, Janet L. Riley and her husband, Tyrone, and Phyllis M. Baugher and her husband, Eugene C., all of New Oxford, and Beverly A. Smith and her husband, William of East Berlin; two sons, John L. Baugher of New Oxford, and Terry L. Baugher and his wife, Barb of Bellfonte; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; six greatgrandchildren; one greatgreat-grandchild; a brother, Ervin Baugher of New Oxford; and two sisters, Mary Stambaugh of New Oxford and Mildred Dubs of Hanover. He was predeceased by two brothers, Clair and Harry Baugher.

Burial will be in New Oxford Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
