Elvira Bahns, age 72, a resident of Pierz, MN died January 22, 1994 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services were held on January 25 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Ken Brenny officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Elvira was born April 4, 1921 in Lastrup, MN to the late John and Antonia (Gross) Weidenbach. She was united in marriage to John Bahns on November 27, 1940 in Randall, MN. They farmed west of Pierz and over the next fourteen years, Elvira worked at the Falls Ballroom, Coast-to-Coast Store and Thielen's Store. Elvira and John owned and operated the Main Street Cafe and Pierz Laundromat from 1969 until 1982. She worked at Morrison County Jail as a cook from 1983 until August of 1993. In her spare time, Elvira loved to coffee with her friends. She was a member of Christian Mothers and American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include her six children: daughters, Shirley Nixon of Deer River, Ronnie Strom of Randall, Carol Olson of Burnsville, Dianne VonderHaar of Minneapolis and Judy Olson of Pierz; son, Tom Bahns of Minneapolis; sisters, Irene Knight of Minneapolis, Marie McGourik of Atlanta, GA, Jeanne Miller of Nampa, ID; brothers, Clarence Weidenbach of Little Falls, Leo Weidenbach of St. Paul, Rich and Bill Weidenbach both of Seattle, WA; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John in 1987; granddaughter, Karla VonderHaar; brother, Al Weidenbach.
Casketbearers were Kevin Strom, Steve VonderHaar, Vic Heurung, Larry Loidolt, Bob Olson and Richard Maurer.
