Funeral services for Ruby Rose, 94, of Lexington, were held Jan. 2, 2003 at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Chapel in Purcell with the Rev. Randy Gloden. Interment was at Lexington Cemetery under the direction of Wilson-Little Funeral Home. Mrs. Rose died Dec. 31, 2002 at Lexington Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 27, 1908 east of Lexington, the oldest of six children of Henry David Smith and Myrtle Jane Latimer. She was reared on a farm near the Corbett community, east of Lexington. She married John Wesley Rose in 1936. In 1944, Mr. Rose was killed while serving in the United States Army during World War II.

Mrs. Rose worked for Kerr's Department Store in Oklahoma City for a number of years and for American Airlines in Tulsa for 19 years. After retiring in the early 1960's, she moved back to Lexington. She was a member of the Lexington First Baptist Church where she was active in Sunday school. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Wesley Rose and an infant brother, J. B. Smith.

Survivors include three sisters, Aline Blumhof of Oklahoma City, Ada Nicholson of Plano, Texas, and Bonnie Shobert and her husband, O'Neal, of Slaughterville and one brother, Lawrence Smith and his wife, Bobbie, of Lexington.

Pall bearers were Jim Hunter, Lyman Smith, Jimmy Joe Smith, Jack Odom, David Nicholson and Neal Carpenter.
