From family notes, Richard loved cars and purchased a new one in the 1940's. He drove his new 1941 Mercury from Michigan to visit relatives in Colorado. Family had a wonderful time seeing Richard. Richard's mother Nellie had left him some land in Colorado, and Richard met with Colorado family to discuss what to do with the property. These family notes are very special to all of us.

Nellie, born 1901, had moved from Colorado to live with her Grandmother Trim in Sunfield, Michigan after her mother died in 1907. When Nellie died in 1925, "Little Richard", as he was called, was raised by his Aunt Carrie.
