CHERRYVILLE - Mrs. Maudie Lenora Carpenter 74, of 301 Pine St. died Oct. 13, 1997, at her residence.

Graveside service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at City Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Lanny Cook, Rev. Charles Ingle and Rev. David Chapman officiating. Visitation is 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Carpenter's Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carpenter was born in Pender County. She was retired from Burlington Industries. She was a member of Anthony Grove Baptist Church, Crouse.

Mrs. Carpenter was preceded in death by her husband, Herman R. Carpenter; and a son, Barry Lee Carpenter.

Survivors include her sons, Rick Carpenter of Crouse; daughter, Mrs. Lynn Brackett of Cherryville; brothers, Webb Lineberger of Hardin and Robert Lineberger of Lincolnton; sister, Katherine Seagle of Lincolnton; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
