TROY - Barry Lee Carpenter, 54, of Highway 24/27, Troy, died Wednesday, February 12, 1997, at Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 15, 1997, at Troy Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Main Street, Troy, conducted by the Rev. Bradford Williams. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery, Troy.
He was born and raised in Cherryville, and was an avid sportsman and horseman. He graduated from the North Carolina School of Pharmacy in 1969, and was a pharmacist at Standard Drug of Troy. He also served in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Leslie Mettam Carpenter of the home; three sons, Barry Lee Carpenter Jr. of Hot Springs, Va., Timothy Austin Carpenter of Seven Lakes, and Kevin Russell Carpenter of Troy; one daughter, Tracy Holmes Carpenter of the home; mother, Maudie L. Carpenter of Cherryville; one sister, Lynn Brackett of Cherryville; one brother, Herman Ricky Carpenter of Lincolnton; and two grandchildren, Raley Jane Carpenter and Clay Spotswood Carpenter.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 1997, at the Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, 211 North Main Street, Troy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Montgomery Memorial Hospital, 520 Allen Street, Troy, N.C. 27371.
